Rapid Realignment® — The Philosophy
See the organisation as a whole.
Rapid Realignment® is a leadership philosophy that enables organisations to restore alignment by assessing, developing and strengthening the organisational capabilities required for sustainable success.
Rather than concentrating immediately on organisational problems, Rapid Realignment® begins with organisational capability. It examines six interconnected dimensions:
Realignment® Six dimensions, one system
Is where the organisation is going sufficiently clear, and is the organisation aligned to deliver it?
Does the organisation have the leadership capacity required for its next stage?
Does organisational design reflect today’s strategic and operational reality?
Are capability, responsibility and ownership where they need to be?
Are organisational systems enabling performance or creating unnecessary friction?
Are authority, decision rights and ownership sufficiently clear?
From Organisational Reality to Executive Action
Assess. Interpret. Prioritise. Realign.
O I
Capability assessment
Understand the capabilities that already exist, those requiring strengthening and those that must be developed to support the organisation's future ambitions.
O 2
Potential Improvement Points
Identify Potential Improvement Points, PIPs: areas where organisational capability can be strengthened. PIPs are deliberately not framed as failures or an exercise in attributing blame.
They change the executive conversation from "Who is failing?" to "Where could this organisation perform better than it does today?"
O 3
Executive interpretation
Data alone does not determine what leadership should do. The findings are interpreted in the context of the organisation's strategy, lifecycle, leadership, structure and current business transition.
O 4
Prioritisation
Not everything needs fixing. The objective is to identify the small number of organisational issues capable of producing the greatest realignment.
O 5
Realignment
Strengthen the capabilities that matter and realign the organisation around what comes next.
Now
What requires executive attention now?
Next
What should follow?
Later
What should deliberately not consume leadership attention yet?
A Different Starting Point
Diagnose before prescribing.
Organisations are systems. Strategy, leadership, structure, people, processes, authority, information and accountability interact. Solving one component in isolation can simply move the problem somewhere else.
Rapid Realignment® begins by determining what is actually happening.
Rapid Realignment® does not begin by assuming:
"You need a restructure."
"You need leadership development."
"You need new KPIs."
"You need a culture programme."
"You need another management system."
Why Rapid Realignment® Is Different — The Difference
The objective is not more activity. It is better organisational judgement.
O 1Begin with reality, not a predetermined solution.
The method does not assume in advance whether the answer is leadership, structure, process, governance, people or something else.
O 2Treat the organisation as a system.
Strategy, leadership, structure, people, processes and accountability are examined together.
O 3Improve without blame.
Potential Improvement Points allow difficult organisational issues to be examined as opportunities to strengthen capability rather than evidence of individual failure.
O 4Interpret evidence through executive experience.
Assessment identifies what is happening. Executive judgement determines what it means and what should happen next.
O 5Intervene before drift becomes decline.
Rapid Realignment® is designed for successful organisations capable of acting while they still have the performance, resources and leadership capacity to realign proactively.
